Ludwig 1965-66 Nickel Club Date BDP Last viewed: 12 minutes ago

Thank you all for the kind words, a definite + after all the insane polishing & nitpicking that went on. I've done the same simultaneously for 2 Ludwig 60's silver sparkle kits (looking for one '69 tom since the wrap is the worst on it, clear interior w/ keystone badge, if you've got one), 1 other CD BDP 3pc, another Rogers blue onyx - all collector quality. My wife never asked about my very real lunacy that I'd been impelled to counter with, "That's dedication, not insanity!!! {twitch, twitch}."

John - I completely agree about nickel hardware. The appearance offered is as though a deep amber honey kissed it in the processing. Thanks for the tip on the air-cushioned feet - never heard of them ... what brand is it & where can you get them?

Jim - I've one flat base cymbal stand that might go with it. Also, I will probably sell the other '65 CD BDP in the near future. Part of the deal w/ me is that I clean & find parts to a point where the kit is as close to original w/out messing w/ them other than polishing, etc.

Jeff - smiling while I was crying. (:o...

I posted this in the VINTAGE DRUM GALLERY, but was rebuffed & shuffled here. Anyone know why? I've included a pic from above - Chris

Damn, Hobbs...she's a Beaut! BDP is my favorite wrap and surprisingly I don't even own a kit in that wrap. Congrats.

Hey Chris!...

Rebuffed? Nah... shuffled to the Vintage Drums catagory? Yup!! Here's why:

To have a pic featured in the Drum Image Gallery/header, you must put said pic in as an attachment... not inbedded within the body of the post.. otherwise .. all that shows in the Gallery is a RED X. Not just you of course... ANY pic that shows as a RED X gets moved to the other appropriate catagory, which in your case was Vintage Drums. So!...

Get ONE PIC that you want to feature, size it, and put it up as an attachment! ( click on the manage attachments button when posting ) If you like, send me the pic you want, I'll size it and "trim the pixels" to fit the parameters of the site, and voila!, up she goes.

O, wonderful! I know I'm in trouble when a SUPER MODERATOR alights from above.

Thank you Tommy for letting me know @ attachments. I tried to size & resize, then resize the already resized, ad infinitum, & have given up (perhaps I should try 1 pixel?). I'm feeling even more unloved.

Do not send flowers or well-wishes. I'll take a few hours and get back to it. Can't see through the tears anyway.

Nickel is so much richer/classier looking than chrome! Man, you did a really nice job detailing that kit. I love the J-fest. After a time, clubbies came with Pioneers. As good as the Pioneers are, the J-fests are just greatly superior sounding and much more versatile. I love Club Dates, that one is a gem.Enjoy them for many years to come...JohnPS - If you want to make that 14" FT and the bass drum come alive, put air-cushioned rubber feet on them! World of difference in the sound and resonance of the bass and floor. Try them. J

I will second the air cushioned feet! Purdie turned me onto these as well and I am a believer!

Amazing kit you got there.

Man I need me some club dates!

Did you re-wraped them?

If so, where did you purchase the new wrap?

Hey ledbally -

Kit is not re-wrapped. I plan on never re-wrapping anything since it seems far more trouble than its worth. Any drums I find that need rewrapping are always sold to someone else who likes doing that -

Hobbs - Here ya go bud!

Honest, I wouldn't steer you wrong with a beautiful kit like that one. Add a set of these feet to your floor tom and to the bass drum spurs. The difference in the sound of the drums is going to blow your socks off. It's like getting a killer 'new' set of drums for $3.99! You'll thank me later, I promise you. You'll be adding them to every drum you own. I do! Yes Sir

John

PS - 'Sometimes' the diameter of the rods used on vintage drums for tom legs is slightly smaller than the hole in the rubber foot. Just add a couple of winds of electrical tape to the bottom of the leg and the rubber foot will stay on, nice and snug.

Too many great drums to list here!
