Ludwig 26" Tom Tom!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last viewed: 29 minutes ago

I got this 26" drum today also. Can anyone tell me what this drum was used for? WOW! A tom tom?

I am going to use it for a to-be bass drum project. Always wanted a 26" kick. This has 10 small classic lugs on it and it is a concert tom. I will have to do some drilling but I also need to know where the first hole (closest to the edge) would start. I am wondering if they started the first hole of the small classic in the same spot they would start large classic lugs. Does this make sense? It does have ten lugs like a original 26 kick but would they would be lined up the same? I hope this makes sense. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone looking for a 26" rim? Laughing H

I believe they were called Timp Toms and were the forerunner of the modern day quads and quints. That will be a really interesting project for you!

Wow, Yes this drum was known as a Timp Toms for marching bands.Ludwig stoped making this size in the mid 70's.I have only seen one other 26" drum like yours.I have a friend who has a whole set of these in blue sparkle they are 18".20",22",24" and a 26"..Fineing a rim for the other side will be very hard to fine.I would leave the drum as-is making it into a bass drum you would have to change the small classic lugs to the bigger ones so a wood hoop would work.....Mikey

You could consider leaving it as is and add a pair of tom mounts to it to create a pseudo gong tom. That would cost about $30 and be seriously cool. Just a thought.

I won't search for a another rim because I got this to look into converting to a bass drum. I am willing to trade or something if someone is interested in this as is. I wanted to find out more about it and see how hard it would be to convert into bass drum as far as the lugs go. Can someone send me a pic of their 26" possibly with a ruler next to it so I can get an idea of the measurements from the edge?
