Ludwig 3 Ply Power Toms??? Last viewed: 1 day ago

I might be buying a set of 1974 (according to the seller) blonde maple pointed badge B/O set. Now, question: Ludwig was making power toms this early in the 70's???? The toms are 11x13 and 12x14 and they DO HAVE REINFORCEMENT RINGS and they have muffler on top and bottom (A la Gretsch)...The set its 11x13,12x14,16x16,16x18 and two 14x24 Bass drums...Im seriously puzzled about this set. Im asking my VDF brotherhood to shed some light about this rare beasts...AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!flowers2

Vinny, After looking over your photo's.I think yes it's a custom ordered set..In the 70's Ludwig would make any size drum that you were willing to pay for...Mikey

Agreed, it has to be a custom ordered kit. Those sizes were not catalog standard pieces back then thats for sure. Very cool! :)

I have a 1970s 3-ply kit with top and bottom mufflers, too. I think you could order them as an option, but I have not seen too many.
