At that price I would grab that set for the snare alone. Honestly that's where the true value is there. The bass drum looks like a Pioneer which isn't as desirable, and the tom looks to be missing It's tacked on calf skin head. Which for those who know how, It's a relatively easy replacement. Everything looks to be in good shape, original finish, doesn't appear to be missing much in the way of parts. Yea I'd pounce.

So, you think the snare alone is worth $300?

I wouldn't say the snare is solely worth $300. But of the three I think It holds the most value. Once I got my 1938 kit I really started to pay more attention to what people are willing to spend on what from drums from that era. And generally the snare drums are what most people go after. There really aren't too many people who want a drum with a non tune able calf skin bottom head, and a beefy 26" ( maybe 28" ? ) bass drum. Now this is based on my personal observations, and I may clearly be out of my mind on this.

Would also like to make note. For the 1938 kit I have - 26" bass drum,11" tom,16" floor tom I paid $200 ( also included a 26" Slingerland Marching Bass and 14" Marching snare with wood hoops )

Now the 1949 Ludwig & Ludwig Standard snare I am purchasing, which color matches my '38 kit and is in great condition I am paying under $475 for. Now for me that's a great deal for an 98% original snare.

So again - just my personal observation and experience.

You could always offer $250 and see if they will negotiate a bit from there... Looks like a cool little set up!
