I have a friend at work who just told me they have a 67' Ludwig Kit in blue oyster pearl. It has the original stands, cymbals and the drums appear to be in great condition with the snare drum.my question is how can I tell what model it is? (super classic, downbeat, hollywood etc...) Not being a ludwig guy I only know the slingerland drums :)Help2thanks
Sounds like you may have a great set there in a desirable wrap. Here is a breakdown of a few Ludwig outfits. Of course, there are always the anomalies...like my '58 Luddy kit is basically a Super Classic but with a 12" rack instead of 13".
Super Classic will have 13" rack, 16" floor, 22" bass
Club Date will have 12" rack, 14" floor, 20" bass (with centered, double-sided lugs and longer tension rods)
Downbeat will have 12" rack, 14" floor, 20" bass (with single-sided lugs for batter and reso hoops)
Hollywood will have two 12" rack toms, 16" floor, 22" bass
