Ludwig American made hardware. Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Is there a Ludwig "expert" ( distributor, employee/endorser), that can 100% tell me with accuracy&assurance WHAT series of Ludwig hardware (old&new) are 100% USA made?,

As I've read that the older &since discontinued MODULAR series was made in Taiwan?.

You would probably have to go back to the 70's to have USA hardware. It's simply not economically (or environmentally) viable to do it in the States in bulk.

Up to 1985 pretty much everything (including the modular hardware) was made in Chicago. After the move to Monroe production of various parts began to shift overseas. I don't know the timeline on that. I'd assume that hardware and parts on drums from the late 1980's and early 90's were primarily American made but with each passing year since then more stuff was farmed out to overseas suppliers. By now all of it likely comes from over there.

This happened with Gretsch too once they were allied with Kaman in the early 2000's. Pretty sure that also applies to DW as well.

The overseas suppliers can just make this stuff cheaper, even with the long distance shipping factored in. Their labor costs are lower and they don't have to deal with environmental concerns. Neither of those things are ideal from the standpoint of the world in general but they are the current reality and to stay competitive US drum makers need to take advantage of that.

Pretty much everything up to 1985 was made in Chicago......including the early Modular series (which was pretty much the Hercules series with double braced bases). With the move to Monroe, the imported hardware started coming in......the later Modular and Classic hardware was all import......and there were a couple of versions of that hardware too.

The current hardware offered by Ludwig is also import hardware.
