Ludwig & Ludwig New Era 1920's Snare drum Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi All,

This is my first post but I have been reading the site for years.

Coming from a long line of drummers in my family, we've collected (and in some cases unfortunately sold) a lot of drums over the years.

One of these drums still in our possession is a 1920's Ludwig & Ludwig snare that my dad has owned for 40+ years, with only one prior owner. I'm hoping for feedback on this drum, on it's rarity, maybe even value and just to share it with you all. It is in 100% all original condition (apart from skins) with the only issue being 2 cracked claws, apparently easy enough to source?

Anyway, here she is..

Paging Drs. Curotto and Cooper.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Ah, the extremely rare 1929 New Era Sensitive! What a beauty. I have a metal version and Mike Curotto has a couple black engraved versions as well as fancy pearl finishes. Quite a valuable and rare drum.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

This drum may be up for sale as my dad has collected drums over the years but now into his 60's, is questioning the point to hoarding and collecting the drums at this point in his life. The money would probably be put to better use. It's not officially advertised anywhere at the moment but ideas on it's value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Josh

I concur with my esteemed colleague Mark Cooper.

The nick name for that finish is lovingly called "frog in a blender."Excited
