Well, it is black, and it is a beauty. Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it.

bebniarek,

You came to the right place to ask the questions. There are plenty on good folks here that are more than happy to share their knowledge of drums. So be sure to poke around the threads and read up on what interest you most.

There is some great info about Black Beauty snare drums in the following threads, the info can help you to detirmine if what you're buying is authentic before money changes hands. Make sure to explore the pictures in the threads as well as there will be a ton of visual cues that you can use if you are going to chase down another BB.

"What is Ludalloy???"

That thread has some pictures of the sticker (3rd page post #25) that is common Ludaloy snares and states the "anti-galvanic finish" which is ink-stamped in your drum.

This has pictures of the interior of my drum and you can use that to compare/contrast to your drum. It should illustrate that my example was "dipped" in a solution or tank processed to achieve the finish.

Also some of the brass and bronze shells are "hard" stamped with a B to indicate a brass or BZ to indicate a bronze composition shell.

From mendozart

It will look something like this. The "BZ" is stamped on the Bronze drums, "B" would be for brass.

I attached a photo from the thread that mendozart posted his photo in. The thread is located here: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=7128

Cheers!

Hello,

I'm very grateful for your help and interest. I will be more carefull next time before buying, I will use the links you sent for sure. The thing is that in Poland vintage drums are not very common, so I can hardly find any information. In this case I got a lesson.

We have a few members in Central and Eastern Europe. Try our good friend Gilnar in Czech Republic, he knows a few folks around and can get you in touch with the right people in your region to find and explore vintage drums close to home.

No problem on the links, hope they are useful. Also, the members here will post links to drums they are interested in buying or are trying to alert other members about. If you see something that you think you are interested in buying say on eBay and are not really sure about what you're getting I would ask for an opinion.

Maybe so, if your only goal was to purchase a black beauty; but I'll bet that snare sounds pretty good when tuned up and you'll get some use/value out of it. If not you could always try reselling it.

Cheers!

I have 2 supraphonic snares, so I'll resell this one, I'll go on looking for B/B.
