Need some help form you guys. I own a black plastic ludwig "wood block"
that my dad owned since the 60's. I don't recall ever seeing any of these
on the 'bay for sale and was wondering how rare these are? It sounds
just like a woodblock made from wood. It has two chrome rods at each end
of a slot that runs the length of the piece. These rods slide to provide some
sort of adjustment? Anyone who knows about these? any info. would
be appreciated. Thanks!!
I think there were WFL plastic "tunable" wood blocks that went back to the '30s or '40s.
I had one once that sold for a lot of $ on ebay a few years ago. (Can't remember how much, but I remember I was shocked.)
I just picked this one up off eBay. I searched for information about it and found this thread. I have yet to experiment with the chrome rods (one was loose and rattling inside the block) to see how much variation is possible. Interesting piece.
I found mine on ebay awhile back. It is shown in the 1959 catalog; $2.50 for tuneable. I don't think it is rare,but it is cool.

I got mine off ebay several years ago delivered to my door for $10.00 mint condition, and very usable.
