I'm not aware of an Blue Oyster being available to the public. The wrap you are referring to, VF1008 on black, is Black Oyster. It's available from Precision Drum Company.-Mark

If you look on the Delmar site itself, it looks like the blue oyster / blue bowling ball wrap. That's why I mentioned the part number. I've attached a screenprint of Delmar's VF 1008. Judge for yourself as it doesn't look like a black oyster to me.

Thank you for the lead on the Bumwrap. I'll see if I can get a sample of that wrap to see it in person.

It is most definitely Black Oyster...which is why it says "on black".

The "on black" might refer to the backing layer. Just saying. It looks like the blue bowling ball finish.

The backing layer is what gives the color. Delmar shows both black and white. Would be very easy for them to offer blue. Might have something more to do with demand. Ludwig is now offering a blue oyster, which looks really nice. Not sure where they source it from, but Delmar would be a good guess.

I found that pic on the bumwrap facebook page. It's probably worth contacting them. They also have a damn nice mod orange now. I saw some in person at the chicago show last year and I was blown away with the samples they had! I would at least contact them and see what they have available now....

I looked all over Bum Wraps site and I don't see anything even closely resembling the Blue Bowling Ball- I think those pix posted above are actual Ludwig wrapped drums- the BB wrap was very inconsistent from drum to drum, sometimes even from one side of the same drum to the other side.

Just OOI, this is where the obp hides on Bumwrap - can't find the BB though...

I did contact them and I'm in the process of ordering a sample. It looks like a close match in the picture, but I'd like to see it in person first. It wasn't shown on their website, but when I asked they sent me pictures of the wrap they make. I will post the pictures they sent to me.

It's not on their site. You have to look at the photos from the facebook page. There is always stuff on peoples facebook pages that are'nt added to a website yet. Ludwig does this all the time. You can't really ever rely on their site for up to date accurate info so I am always checking the facebook page.

Here are the pictures sent to me from Bum Wrap. Although it's not "perfect", it looks fairly close to me and if the wrap seems to be quality, I will get some to try out. Keep in mind however, Bum Wrap uses the adhesive at the end of the wrap - I would choose to use the "normal" method of adhesive on the entire shell. The Bum Wrap is on the right/bottom.
