Ludwig B/O - Does this look right to you? Last viewed: 26 minutes ago

I'm more of a keystone era guy, but was just checking the net and ran across this:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/VNTG-LUDWIG-9X13-SKY-BLUE-PEARL-TOM-TOM-EXC-ORIGINAL-/140676160753?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item20c0f3dcf1

... I thought the badge placement seemed odd, but then noticed... no re-rings?

no re-rings, riveted wrap seam and the badge/vent IS in the wrong place.

As for the B/O "pointy" badge, it WAS used on the 6-ply (no re-rings) shells of the mid-to-late 70s, but was replaced by the B/O "rounded corner" badge of the late 70s.

As for the rivets on the seams, that did occur in the late 70s on Ludwig's 6-ply shell. I hated it, but they didn't ask for my opinion... :)

I really can't speak to the placement of the badge on a 9x13, but that IS common badge placement on a marching drum.

That's what I get for browsing out of my era. Still much to learn. Always appreciate the expertise here at VDF - thanks for the responses.

I had a chrome over wood riveted 6 ply kit with the badges in the same place, the plies looked like all maple, can't be sure if they were, and the drums were heavy as hell,I mean like Sonor heavy.
