This might be old news, but just in case you haven't heard about this yet:

It looks like Ludwig is really trying to embrace their heritage and become a serious player again. Good for them. It's been a long time since they were a "go to" brand. Ludwig should be a top brand; it's good for the industry. Granted, there is so much more competition now, but they have "brand recognition" to use a corporate buzzword. It's just like Notre Dame football. I don't care how much you despise Notre Dame (and I certainly do), college football is better as a sport if Notre Dame is good every year. Hey Ludwig used to be in Elkhart, Indiana, just east of South Bend, IN. Ironic reference?
I like the "Spur Lock" type footboards, and vintage Ludwig mallet looking beaters. Obviously this is WAY different than the original Atlas hardware, but at least they are giving a nod to their past glory. The hardware looks pro level for sure, and looks well designed. I wonder what the price point will be? I think they are available starting in March 2012. I really dig the "Classic Heirloom Bags" with the Blue/Olive badge design.
Incidentally, it also looks like they are re-introducing the Club Dates as well (scroll down to Classic Configuration Gallery):

This is great! Not a big fan of the FAT lugs on the floor tom and bass drum though.
I still say if they re-introduced all their 60's hardware..............flat base snare and cymbal stands, Classic "Spur-Lock" hi-hat stands etc., they would absolutely sell like hotcakes! Keep the same simple designs (except maybe eliminate metal to metal contact), and re-introduce them today as they were 40-50 years ago. Man I think Ludwig is missing the boat on this! If that happened, and they were at a reasonable price point, who in this forum wouldn't go out and by a car full the first day? Am I wrong? Of course, our "vintage" Ludwig models would still be as valuable/collectible because they would be "originals".
