So, is this is an exclusive kit to Chicago drum exchange, a one-off, or maybe something new for 2016 that wasn't at NAMM ?

I saw this kit in one of my emails from them! Chicago drum exchange seems to have a lot of 'Exclusive' kits with companies. I'm cool with this one!

True, but it's only because the hardware is a bit beefier than the original.
But i agree, you can pick an original one up for about $800. However, they're getting a bit more pricey, as more and more drummers are discovering how cool they are. With companies like C&C custom drums having their own twist on the BB finish, the originals are gaining more popularity..
