Hello, can anyone tell me the difference between chrome-o-wood and mirrored chrome finishes of the 80's?

c.o.w. is a actual piece of steel wrapped over a wood shell.

mirrored chrome is a chrome drum wrap.

AHHH Thank you very much Did not know that.

I have a 1981 set that supposedly was chrome that has been stripped. Was the chrome-o-wood glued like a wrap? also have a 1988 Rocker that I would guess is the mirrored chrome. Thanks for the info.

forgot to mention there's also a few different types of mirrored wrap. some are really shinny and others are duller or "flat". stuff you would see on say...a pearl kit or on indie drum co. kits.

as for ludwig i think they only used the reall shinny mirror like wrap. my old catalogs are buried, so if i'm wrong maybe someone else will chime in.

the c.o.w. was glued down and had rivets at the seam. i have a 8x14 snare that the wrap was rusted and beat up. for me it was really hard to take the wrap off. but for others i hear it wasn't too bad. i believe i read about their projects on this forum.
