I am close to purchasing this kit for $1200. I realize that it is not a great score however it appears to be in mint shape. It almost seems to good to be true as the badges are all period matching and there does not appear to be any blemishes. The sizes are 14x20, 8x12, 14x14 and 5x14. My hesitation in on the price. I have spent the last two years scouring Craigslist/Guitar Center etc. and have done pretty well and am now thinking of rewarding myself with some higher end stuff in excellent shape. This kit seems to fit the bill. Instead of having seven or eight player kits, I am looking to have two or three mint kits. I did notice that the floor tom legs appear to be for the super classic/ Hollywood/ Downbeat lines. the seller does not see any extra holes. Do you guys see anything else in these pictures to sound off any alarms?

Looks like a 6 lug Pioneer snare to me. That's a very nice looking kit. I would investigate the floor tom legs though. The holes in these mounts and the Club Date mounts do not share the same pattern. So unless these were special ordered, an extra hole on each mount may have been drilled. Having said that, those leg mounts work better than the Clubbies in my opinion. That should affect price though.

Superclassic style floor tom leg brackets will usually always end up in extra holes on the floor tom itself. If you keep on your search you can find very nice Clubdates for that money with a jazzfest. In the sparkle colors I personally don't see a Clubdate pulling $1k but that is just me.
Yes I know people ask that and some won't sell for that but a lot of folks on here (myself included) are smart buyers.
For $1200 if it was dead mint, had a jazzfest and was what you wanted then I could see paying top dollar. Just my two cents.

I think that the old days are done and those clubbys will soon go the way of the downbeat and keystone on top of it there getting harder to find if you really like it you'll love the sound all the more I had a pioneer with my clubbys and it had a sweet spot I miss them I don't think as a players kit and collector set you be disappointed but no room to flip and make and bread on them
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Those floor tom legs and brackets are probably stock from the Ludwig factory, as was often the case with Club Dates. Do a Google search and you'll see lots of examples of such floor toms. I've had a couple myself. IMO, it's an upgrade over the earlier version legs and brackets.
That's a great set. I'd buy it.
One thing to be careful of though..If the potential extra holes bother you. If one were to look inside for an extra hole, that would most likely not see it. The mounts use large round washers that would cover the original hole. So in that case, it would appear factory and not be.

I think the hole would be visible from the outside though, as the "usual" bracket holes are spaced wider apart. Could be wrong...x-mas2*
The kit is to die for...top price though...but it's so beautiful...
That's a tough one! And now I'm invested in knowing what you decide...:)
