Ludwig Drum Set? Help Identify. Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Hey guys, I was doing some googling and came across your website and forum about identifying drums. I have three Ludwig drums that look to be vintage.

They are not made of wood, and it looks and feels to be some sort of plastic. Though it could be something different.

I guess the best way to explain them is to show you the pictures. So I will post them now with their corresponding serial.

it's a white ludwig vistalite kit . made with acrylic shells . fairly common . the serial number that you show . to me that does not match up with your kit those number are for 1964/65 kits and ludwig did not start making vistalites until 1972/73 if i'm wrong i'm sure i will be corrected . nice drums fun to play .

Correction: I think you may have miscounted the XXXXs. Those are 7 digit serial numbers not 6 digit serial numbers. If they were 6 digit they would be 1964/5. The 7 digit serials are the right time frame for Vistalites.

While there may be a good supply of Vistalites around I don't know how rare or common the white ones are.

Forgot to say the second photo down looks like it may be Ludwig Black Panther wrap. Extremely rare and valuable. Somebody else was chided recently when he removed it all from his drums and then asked what the next restoration step was.
