Hey guys..Just found this little guy on my local classifieds..

Never owned an epic, but my buddy at my local drum shop says they're not bad.. Price is decent.. Hardware durable ? Throw-off solid and reliable ? Any thoughts would be appreciated..Click on the pic to see a close up..Bad quality pic, but whatever..

cheers !

The last band I worked with had an Epic kit at their rehearsal hall. The only drum in the kit I didn't care for was the snare. The toms and the bass drum were spot on, but no amount of tweaking would make that snare sound good. Just one man's opinion, but there it is.

I wouldn't take anybody's opinion on whether a drum sounds good. I'd use my ears. Someone's opinion of a drum set or drum and how it sounds to them can sound totally different to you. Conditions of where the drum set is, type of heads, the player, etc. are all varying factors.

If you're looking to flip it, you'd probably break even. Now if it was "The Brick" snare, I'd say jump on that like a life raft on the Titanic.

Should read: 'I wouldn't take anybody's opinion on whether a drum sounds good unless the person has experience with it.'

I offered my 'opinion' because I've actually played one of these. Otherwise, I would not have felt qualified to offer an opinion. Unlike others who will opine without knowing from whence they speak. (No actual experience with the instrument. Just blowing wind because they enjoy the lilting sound of their own voice.)

I think I said exactly what and how I wanted to. I don't trust anyone's ears or opinion except my own regardless of their experience. I've listened to people play a drum and loved the sound, as well as going to check out a drum with just me playing it.

Opinions are like *******s, everybody's got one. I prefer to listen to a drum, no matter what kind/condition the heads are. I've even listened to just a shell with no heads. Visual inspection is a key as well.

Don't get butt hurt thinking that my comments were in any way pointed towards your direction, I was speaking in general terms. If you want to think that comments that follow your opinion are directed at you personally, I can't do anything to help you with that.
