Ludwig Ft - 65? Last viewed: 11 hours ago

When I went back to an antique store today to take photos of a bass drum I did not recognize...to post on a this thread -

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=26097

- I could not resist this Ludwig FT. It came with a Hardshell case - sorry I did not take a photo of that case. I bought the case and ft for $75 tax incl.

I think it's a 65 going from the 6 digit S/N on the badge - anyone??

The drum does have a missing reso hoop and t-rods but all the lugs are there. Even though the head is messed up (dented) I hit it a few and it sounds not bad....got that 70's removed-the-reso-head vibe.

Thanks for that. I had no idea - don't know much about the Ludwig trade - except I did buy Rob Cook's Ludwig book here when they were offered - the signed ones. I remember looking at the keystone badges and I knew they are pre-Blue Olive so figued it had to be before 69 (I have a BlueOlive badge Acrolite.

I will be looking around for a hoop for the reso side and t-rods in the new year. Hopefully they're not hard to find.........are they?

That is the one I need for my '65's to make a double FT kit. How about a date stamp on the inside? Mine is Mar 12 1965. Maybe a trade? I have an awesome 60's COB Rogers Powertone collecting dust.

Gary, you did great! That's $250. to $300. worth of floor tom. The bottom hoop will be a breeze, here, fleabay, not hard to find. Check that the bottom edge is in round. Sometimes guys left the heads and hoops off long enough for the shell to go out of round. It's probably A-1, but check it (and the exposed bearing edge,) anyway.

Great score.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

My FT has the center badge, not toward the top. Again mine are dated Mar 12 1965 so there was a machining switch done between these two FT's.
