The screw your asking about on the hihat stand, is called a cymbal tilter it is to tilt the bottom cymbal to keep it from getting cymbal lock. It allows you to get a good chic sound out of your hihat cymbals

Vintage, the tilter is at the top, not the bottom.

The white wheel at the bottom is used to adjust the tension on the foot pull pedal.

My kit:
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler

I have that same hihat stand and I love it. Mainly because I had one when I was a youngster and sold my beloved drums to an old geezer janitor guy that worked at a church. Did not regret the sale until several years later. Now, I don't have my drums back but over the last three years I have accumulated some of the hardware and cymbals like I had back then. Just this last December I hit the jackpot and bought four Zildjian cymbals and a pair of hats from an old geezer woman that works, well I don't know where she works, but point is I scored some cymbals that are about the same time frame from the ones I sold.

So when I saw the picture of the stand you got from your uncle it immediately reminded me of mine. Sorry for the long boring reply!

Thank you!

Hey Jeff - I just turned 65... have I reached geezerhood yet? What's the cut-off? At what age do you become a geezer? LOL

BTW, if you're lucky to live long enough... someone will be referring to you as a geezer one day! One of those, 'what goes around, comes around' things.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

My niece called me an old guy when I was 35. At 45 my boys started calling me father time. I'm 55 now and I don't feel that old at all.

At what age do you become a geezer?

Probably when you start receiving Social Security.

*note to self*

Not gonna apply.;)
