Help please.I need the plastic sleeve that locates the bottom Hi Hat cymbal on a 60's spur lock Hi Hat stand.I lost mine when I was packing up on the street. DOHApart from buying a whole new (vintage) stand, are there any out there? Or is there somewhere I can get a replacement? Help2
There is one on ebay now (search "Ludwig Hi-Hat"), but that one doesn't have the sleeve, only the round metal piece with the tilter screw that the cymbal and felt rest on, so it's basically useless. I've bought many of those stands on ebay, and most of them have the round piece, but not the sleeve. Since it's pretty much impossible to replace just the sleeve (and leave the round piece intact), and it's completely useless without the sleeve I just get a whole new assembly.
I cut off the old round piece (go about an inch or so down to clear where the original piece has been press fitted in). That leaves you with a hollow tube. If you didn't cut it perfectly straight, just make that side the bottom side (that telescopes into the lower section). This Pearl replacement cup fits perfectly:

Just give it a few light taps with a rubber mallet, and it holds nice and tight. Back in action and ready to roll! I know it's not "original", but what good is a useless "original" part?
