yeah, i normally love rounding up a few needed parts to complete a fun project. but the fun has left the building on this one. i think ive got everything coming for it now though and can enjoy it some.

Mike,
Drop me a line when lugs and gaskets arrive!
John
came in this morning john. great, great condition. already got them swapped out on one of the drums. hitting the others in a bit. thanks as always!
mike
got the last batch that i was waiting for today(thanks mikey!!). polished them up a bit and the vistalites are complete! thanks guys....
mike
No photos? What vistalites? Where?
C'mon man, you know better than that! I want to see them.
John
i had planned on waiting until the grass got greener for my usual outside shots. but,i'm playing these right now. so, tight music toom shots will have to do.
early vistalite combos. had all original heads and plastic lugs. i recently changed them to classic lugs for durability. ive owned them about 10 years. they were in cases when i got them. missing floor tom though. finally found one this month! i'm playing the just the 13 ride tom. have it on a stand and my ride mounted as usual in the center mounting hole using a z bar.
this kit has all original hardware, period correct throne, speed king and the acrolite that they came with. i'm playing a b/o badge 402 supra with them right now. also have all period correct zildjian hollow ink cymbals. went with pinstripes on the toms.1 moongel needed for the floor tom.these are some clean, clean drums. sound very cool!
mike
here is a pic two up,which i seldom play. still had the plastic lugs here..
the non vistalite combos came with no front head. so, the batter on the kick had a ludwig decal that was on the inside of the head showing out to the front. but on the vistas, they went double heads on the bass on the combos. but the drum has that batter head i mentioned and also the conventional front head with decal, all orignal.

Mikey - they came out great man! They look killer with the shiny Classics on them. Vistalite drums have their own sound. Match them up with the right heads and it's the best sounding rock kit you can find. Loud, deep and punchy.
Have fun with em buddy...
John
Those are awesome. . Nice that you could switch out the lugs.
Can you tell me more abou that cymbal mount? I'm not familiar with it but i like it.
matt
thanks. i'm having a blast playing these!
the cymbal mount is the coolest thing and is so simple. i posted about it once before on dfo but it didnt get noticed much.
on my galaxy clubdate bass, they use a disappearing cymbal mount dead center in the top of the bass drum for a cymbal mount. the top of a ludwig 1400 cymbal stand fits in it. later clubdates also used it but off to the side. i had an extra mount and noticed that it basically fit inside a ludwig double tom center mount. i never play two up. to make it fit right, it needed to be a little longer to stay put. went to the hardware store to look for a coupler. didnt have one in that thread size. i did find a coupler in the pipe thread section(galvanized) that threads on enough to hold and not mess up the threads. then, i simply wrapped the mount and the coupler a few times with duct tape to make it the perfect size to fit in the double mount. the double mount wingnut tightens it in place. gibraltar makes a z bar for about 10 bucks or so that fits in that disappearing mount. there are also some vintage ones out there from the 50's or earlier.
this puts the ride in the gravy spot over the bass. swivels easily to where you want it. eliminates a cymbal stand. ive been using this on two kits that i have with center tom mounts.
if you need any detailed pics, let me know...
