I really want to know if these are very old WFL or something else.So I bumped it.
they are wfl lugs.
I suppose WFL, the badge is WFL...I did do some research prior to the post and did find some that looked like mine. I wanted to be sure though.
Cooper's Drums states that the long Imperial Bass Drum lugs were introduced in 1937.See pic.I am not sure if the lugs on your drum are WFL or Ludwig.I think they are a different brand. The design is different. But they "are" very similar.
Guys, you must remember that Ludwig & Ludwig and WFL were two separate companies back then, not to be merged back together until 1955. The Imperial lug did come out in 1937 as stated, but it was a Ludwig & Ludwig product, not WFL. WFL Senior did NOT design the Imperial lug. He did design the similar version fitted to the bass drum in question in the first post. When the companies merged in 1955, they kept the Imperial design and dropped the original WFL design as the two were similar. I'm sure it had to do with cost to produce more than anything else as to why which one won out.
They are in fact, the earliest CAST lugs that WFL made, rather than the stamped steel "Zephyr" lugs. Those lugs are original to the drum I would say.Yes Sir
This wfl lug began production in 1937 Ludwig refereed to it as the streamlined lug. You can see this in The Ludwig book on page #193 by Rob Cook.
