3-ply clear maple shells already makes that kit a winner. Then Gold lacquer finish with those killer Mach lugs... Fat-City, Baby! Great kit. Love the finish.

PS - personally, I wouldn't mount all those drums on that poor bass drum. It can't be a good thing to have all that weight on the bass drum. Just 2 cents.

thanks , I agree with you .I would never mount 3 toms on the bass.but are you sugesting a paint job in gold silk, can that be done?
Didn't know it was gold silk, you didn't mention it... thought it was a lacquer job going by photos alone. Ludwig did use Gold lacquer on some drums. Vintagemore2000 (Mark) has some beautiful examples.

Nice set....
That tom mount is actually from a Standard set. That is why the "extra" pipe is with it. The Standard mount has a down tube size of 5/8" and the Classic mount is 1"...
I agree with Purdie, that 3 ply kick will not hold all 3 of those without distorting...
Now thats a rare set you have. The finish is called "Gold Silk" and is a plastic wrap not lacquer paint job.Ludwig made these sets in the mid 70's-{74-75}- and stop making them at the end of 75.They only listed a 4 pc and 5 pc in the catalog these years. The sets were in these sizes 13,16,22 and 12,13,16,22 both came with a S.S snare.Your set was a special odered one with the rare three tree tom mount Ludwig made two types of these mounts one like yours a Standard mount and the other was a classic tube mount. looks like your toms are 12,13,14.I only know of a few of these sets around in this set up.I have seen one that the toms were 10,12,13....Mikey
the sad part about this kit is that the previous owner, who has sinced passed on,stored this kit in a van for several years.its hard to see in the pics but the wrap is cracked and split open on most of the drums.its a shame. if this kit would have been stored in a better place it would have been cherry.notice the split on the top of the bass
