Ludwig mid 60s Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Greetings!

I have the opportunity to buy a mid 60's Ludwig kit. It is re-wrapped in chrome (blah) and painted black (double blah) on the insides.

I am 90% sure that it was jazz sizes 20, 12, & 14, which is the only reason I am looking at buying this kit. I would definitely want to put it back to a more classic wrap, and hopefully take the black off and put it back to white.

Anyway, I know it's past true collector value, but it could still be a sweet kit to play and own. I know the owner will want me to make an offer... what would be a good price?

Any help appreciated!

-Kevin

Kevin try $250.00, all are reversible but will take some work, but it would be just as you stated a great kit to play and use as your main kit to gig with.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I was thinking $200-300. The one good thing for the kit is that the re-wrap job wasn't finished (husband passed before he could finish). So it should be easy to get off, since it isn't glued entirely. She had quite a bit of stuff last year when I saw everything, I helped her out with values, but she is still working on getting rid of the rest.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Normally I would have said 400 500 ish because of the re wrap, but having to fix the interiors and re wrap again really makes them a project kit for sure, and because you helped the lady sort out all the gear,I think 200.00 to 300.00 is fair, you are looking at at least 200.00 for a classic wrap and easily that much in sweat equity,at least she knows they are going to someone who will make them playable again and will appreciate them.

I think 200-300 is very fair if in fact they are Ludwig drums.Make sure you check the bearing edges especially the bottom ones as a lot of drummers played with the bottom heads removed and damaged bearing edges are common.Check the serial number chart and remember that 65 was a transitional hardware year for red to white felt mufflers and COB to COS rims. Also measure the drums diamater in several places to see if the are "in round".Good luck>
