Ludwig Mother-In-Law Last viewed: 27 minutes ago

So. My mother in law calls me while I was at rehearsal the other night (she never calls me) and says she found a drum in the trash and wanted to know if I'd like it. In my snarky and ungrateful mind, I'm thinking "she found a pacific tom half chewed and soaking wet covered in mold".

My mother-in-law is a very sweet, simple, and bat **** crazy in some ways. It felt good to get the call and that she was thinking of me.

I get back to tonight and I start asking her the question on how big it is, and what kind it is and she says the usual, "It's a R.E.M.O and I think it's damaged because there is a hole in the plastic". With further discussion I ask her to find a "badge" and "label" and she says, "It says Ludwig and WHAT?? Monroe? Monroe is the next town over from us." She tell me that she and her friends pick through discarded stuff from students when they leave at Wingate University in Wingate NC -next store to Monroe. So...I guess folks just throw away luddies down there once they are done with them. Maybe there is a bin of drums at the Food Lion (that's a regional joke).

So she texted me pics and this is coming in the mail next week.

In short, BE VERY NICE TO THOSE BAT **** CRAZY MOTHER IN LAWS!!

I own a Ludwig Coliseum and this is my first Monroe badge. I'm thinking this looks to be 8x14 like the Coliseum w/8 lugs and not 12. Any have more info on this type of drum, head recommendations? All it is missing is a strainer. I can handle that.

Snare drums make me bat **** happy! Thanks MOM!!!! Made my month!

You can see 5 lugs in the pic and that's only half the drum. Unbelieveable!

Patrick, give your mother in law a really big hug, these are a killer snare drum. your correct it's either a coliseum or here look at this link. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/ludwig_snaredrums/1984_LUDWIG_SNARES4.jpg here is a coliseum I have give it a look. Remo white coated emperor on top ambassador on bottom with 20 strand or more, steel snare wires.

Man! This & that Rogers kit last week discarded & covered in mud. Nothing much ever really comes up on CL here that isn't snatched up by the local percussion Green Berets ... I'm gonna get me some rubber gloves, bug spray and sunscreen & spend the summer traipsing woodlands and dumps -
