I have never felt the shock of striking the rail mounted tom travel through to the pedal. I think you have some type of other issue going on there. I would investigate more before doing something else. I would try a different tom to see if the same thing happens. I would also check your rail and mount for installation issues or possibly some type of defect. I think there is something not right going on.

Ok interesting. It it were my only kit and I had to make it road worthy then yeah, but I just can't get my head around putting on my old beautiful kit.
Hmmmm, thinking out loud, would putting soft leather grommets under the rail mount help. That would isolate the BD from the mount at contact. It's not the tom mount thats the issue. maybe I should isolate both anyway.
Has anyone tried that??
