From Christophonic

Any certain type of string to use?I'll have to measure/take photos of the extra holes. The other holes had wider spacing which should be consistent w/ P-338.Here's the strainer:

yeah the puresound wire cable is not what you want on brass shells, get the ludwig orange string, it's good stuff!!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Christophonic - The strainer in your photo is similar to a P-338 but it seems that the strainer wire bracket and adjusting screw are not quite right (a little to long for that drum and the screw top doesn’t seem typical for a P-338. Maybe those parts are from a Slingerland marching snare and adapted to a P-338 type frame???). But there were P-338s with that 45% angle (verses the 90% angle of the earlier P-338s) on the snare wire bracket in the later years like the 1940s. I'm sure somebody here will know more about that strainer than I.

I did take note that that strainer is 10 wire and not the typical 12 wire style. The vent hole seems to close to the center rib to be a typical Ludwig shell too.
