Ludwig P-85 question Last viewed: 9 hours ago

What year did Ludwig switch from the P-85 throw with twelve holes to the two-hole design?

I'm sure the answer is buried here somewhere. Thanks!

OK, thanks. I guess my real question is this:

I have a 6 1/2 Supraphonic that had no badge when I got it. It has the "Ludalloy" sticker on the inside, two hole P-85. Is there any way to drill down whether it is a Chicago or Monroe drum, without the benefit of looking at the badge?

It's probably chicago, can you post a pic of the sticker?

I figure too much information is better than not enough information, so here's five photos. I've had this drum for at least 15 years. It's in excellent condition. If I can be reasonably sure this is a Chicago drum from 1980-1984, I've got a flawless rounded-corner B/O badge I'm going to slap on there. I'm not getting rid of the drum, so I will only be being dishonest with myself right?

So what do you say, Chicago or Monroe? Thanks for the help!

Hey thanks! After 15+ years I can finally get a good night's sleep! LOL I remember picking it up at the local music store for something like $75 at the time. I remember that I talked them down from $ because the badge was missing. And it really hasn't seen a whole lot of use since then because I had a 8 x 14 woodie as my main. But now I feel like giving the Supra some good heads, stainer, a period-correct badge and see how she rolls!

Keep on Pl
