Help identifying the drums:

These drums have been packed in boxes for at least 3 years that I know of. I work with a lady whos husband inherited the drums. He is a musician - plays a guitar. He says he just has not had the time to get to them. It drives me crazy haha. I'd have a party around opening the boxes!

There was a retirement party for me yesterday at work and this lady finally did send me a photo of her father-in-law playing the drums. She thinks the photo was taken in the 90's.

I can see the drums are Keystone badged and the tom is single tensioned but that's all I know. My guess would be 60's??

Her husband does not want to sell the drums.......at this time anyway. They're of sentimental family value.

keystone badge for sure. looks like mahogany finish. i'm guessing maybe early 60's. looks like a 6 lug pioneer from what i can see on the snare.

that is one funky angle that he has that ride tom on! i bet he has it on a hoop mount clipper mount based on the location.

Definitely early 60's club date. Could be burgundy sparkle but the picture is too blurry for me to really tell. Cool drums.

That 'chipped look' on the rack tom leads me to say natural finish....not wrapped. Ya - sorry about the photo....it's what I was sent. She says her husband has a lot more photos of him playing in ....in the younger days as well. They're all packed away somewhere.

I like the look of the well used dirty heads.....lots of playing/brushwork I imagine.

Gary I agree those well used heads tell such a story on these vintage drums, can you imagine the gigs they've been through!?

the more i look at it , it looks like i see a center bass mounted rail which would make sense for some of the clubdates of the time. i thought it was the cowbell mount but i don't think so. it appears there is a baseball bat muffler on the snare. that takes the very early 60's out of the equation.

Baseball bat muffler = 1963

All they need is some sanding and a nice lacquer clear-coat. Good as new.

Oh, and some new skins... man, I'd like to play some buzz-rolls on that six lugger snare!

This looks like a copper/brown duco finish to me. I have this same kit and it is a great color. I could be wrong, just my 2 cents.
