once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Hi Mike,
Sorry for the tardy response - been out of touch. I'm really in the tire kickin stage, and I want what everyone's looking for - either black oyster or wmp. Hoping to find a steal someday. most likely not ready to pay what they're worth at this point to anyone in the know. Thanks.

An Oyster Black Pioneer is about a $600-$800 drum (sometimes more) since it's the same thing as an Oyster Black Jazz festival, sans two lugs. If you can't afford to shell out $2000-$4000+ for an Oyster Black Jazz Fest the Pioneer is the next best thing so that drives the price up.
A WMP Pioneer is probably more like a $200-$400 drum....maybe less if you get lucky (I suppose that could apply to the OBP as well...but you'd need to get REAL lucky).
Yep, I'd say that's a fair summary of current market conditions. I picked up a 2013 classic maple in the bop for a bit under 300. which was a good price, and it looks spot on with my '67 bop downbeat kit. I just haven't warmed up to the sound I'm getting from it. Then again, my chops need some substantial warming up, and I really haven't spent enough time with it yet. Thanks for the feedback and Happy Thanksgiving! Hey, I wonder what kind of sound I could get using a couple of dried-out, big old turkey legs on the skins?
