Ludwig "black gold shadow" finish Last viewed: 12 hours ago

Howdy, folks!

Does anyone have any Ludwig drums with the "black gold shadow" finish offered in the late 90's, catalog color #23. If so what do you have and would you be willing to post a picture of it so I can compare and see if that is what I have?

Thanks,

J

Howdy, Steve!

Thanks very much for the reply. I have indeed seen this catalog scan, as it is where I found out what the color catalog number was for black gold shadow. Unfortunately, this is the only picture that seems to be easily found on the internet using Google images search. I am hoping that someone here has a photo of an actual drumset in this color, not a scan of the color scan from an old catalog, which might not be too good an indication of what the drum actually looks like.

Surely one of you hard-core Ludwig collectors has one of these.

Thanks,

J

This finish was an ebony stain over maple, with a touch of gold bronze powder in the clear topcoats. If you look closely at the drum and see tiny gold flecks, then you have Black Shadow.
