Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl Question Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

Loading...

I'm about to go check out some 70's Sky Blue Pearl Ludwigs. I asked the owner if they were ever rewrapped and he said it looks like the original wrap to him. He would only send me one photo which is shown below.

Does this look like original Sky Blue Pearl to you guys? It appears to have no fade at all which is a little suspicious to me but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Also, do the legs look original?

Yeah that looks brand new, if the set has no cases and no scratches lifting, ect It would be suspect. Take a drum key, and see if the wrap goes all the way to the edges, and if he won't let you look at the bearing edges, don't buy it.

Yeah, once I see them in person I will be able to tell, but it is a bit of a drive for me. I think I might wait until he is willing to provide better photos. I asked for a photo of the interior badge grommet but he told me he was unable to take one right now. HMMMM.

Looks exactly like the vintage sky blue pearl wrap that is being sold now. I wrapped a set in it last year. Go to jammin SAMs site and look at the vintage sky blue pearl sets. The second set, the Slingerland set is mine. Looks just like that wrap to me. It doesn't mean it is a bad set. Probably beautiful if all the drums look as good as the floor Tom. Leg looks correct to me from what I can see.

I checked out the Sky Blue wraps available from Precision and Jammin Sam's right after I posted this. I agree, they do look alike.

My own set is WMP, but I always drooled over the sky blue pearl drum one of my buddies had in band class. I'm talk'n 1969 - '71 or so and this looks a lot different that what I remember.

Re-wrap - price the kit accordingly!

Too many great drums to list here!

That looks exactly like the Sky Blue wrap I put on my Walburgs. Got it from Precision. Honesty is always the best policy.

Agree with the above. If you look at the picture of the badge, it doesn't seem to have the correct "curvature" to the shell and looks "lifted" at the corners. Just my thought.
