Ludwig Snare Drum question... Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Just got a great "garage sale" find...

A 1965 (Serial #196761) 8 lug Ludwig Snare Drum, 3 ply shell w/rings, black laquer finish (part of a 4-pc Club Date set -- got the whole set!). From the 1964 catalog, the "Jazz Festival" Snare Drum (No. 908L) is 5x14, but this drum is closer to 5 1/2 x 14 (exact depth is 5 3/8) than 5x14. Anybody have any insight about this?

Thanks

It's a leftover Barrett Deems shell. does it have a white interior?

Yes. It's aged to more of a "cream" color, however.

Here is the very same year model as yours but this is a 5x14" jazzfestival does yours look like this one?

Yes, but not quite as "white."

They can be both 5" depth (later) and 5-1/2" depth (earlier) -same goes for Pioneer snare drums.

you'll also see quite a few that are a true 5 1/4 inch deep.
