Just picked up a beautiful Ludwig from KCDRUMDAD but finding it a challenge to find replacement wires.its got the classic throw off where one end extends beyond the shell and screws in on the bottom of the throw off. Any info would help.
Ludwig snare wire question Last viewed: 5 minutes ago
they come around every now and then. can be hard to find. before I found my set, I simply used some vintage wires and used the snare cord to create a triangle pattern to mount conventional wires on that strainer. sounded just fine.

I'm getting a mental pic of what you're talking about Mike.im gonna try that.
John,
Glad you like the drum. It was good having you over and having you buy something from me after all the times I have been at your place acquiring things.

Don't worry Rick, IM COMIN BACK!
I just bought my first snare drum with one of these throw offs on it. Mine came with the original wires (or at least some that work) so no problem but I was wondering what I would do if they ever needed to be replaced.
I wonder if the wires for a pearl free floater would work. They are a bit longer than regular snares so maybe a set of them with a plastic band (or grosgrain ribbon) on the butt end and the other end screwed into the throw like the originals.
Does Ludwig still sell the snares for these?
don't think that Ludwig or puresound sells them anymore kevin..

KO,
The wires on the snare I just sold John are intact. John seems to prefer new wires, so you might hit him up for them as a future replacement set.
