Ludwig Stainless Steel 28x14 Last viewed: 15 hours ago

Hey all,

I just caught the stainless steel bug and picked up a 28x14 bass drum. I'm going to piece together a SS kit, and I was curious what peoples' opinions on the various sizes of toms are. I was considering buying a 15x12 snare for a tom, since they are plentiful--is this a good idea, or are snare beds an issue on these drums? How plentiful are 16" and 18" floor toms? I was picturing a 12/15/18 setup. Thoughts?

I don't know how easy it will be to find the drums you need, but that will be one killer looking kit.

Good luck with it.

caddy, the snare beds will not be an issue. with that sizes I would snare stand mount a 12x15, that is what I have to do on my 14x26" the floor toms are gonna cost you.

Thanks. Yeah, I know the floor tom will be the expensive part.

So, is there a minimal snare bed on the 15x12 snares, or none at all?

It is just a minimal snare bed. to be honest it actually makes the drum louder, not that stainless steel needs in help in that department.

Hey, IF you're interested, I've got a couple of 12x15 SS shells (no hardware), and 10x14, 2-10x16, 10x18 SS marching toms (single headed). All are far from perfect, but with good badges. I'd make you a good deal...

PM me if interested in any.

Thanks,

Bill

I'll send you a PM when I get to a computer (can't access them from my phone--weird).

So, there's an 18x16 stainless floor tom on the 'bay right now. I'm wondering, if anybody has watched these, how often they pop up and what the typical selling price ends up being? Just wanted to know if it's a once a year occurrence or something, and exactly how many arms and/or legs I'm going to need to pay for it. Thanks in advance!

Caddy they don't come up very often and this looks to be a nice one they usually sale in the $500.00 dollar range, so the price is right at this time.
