Ludwig Standard Pedals Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Seems to me that the only difference between these Standards and the old Speed Masters are the footboards - and in many cases color of course.

I used to tie my kit to my thrown also -for years...which was a stool from the restaurant that my parents owned when I was a child. This proved very effective - hence such the long term use. It always attracted comments and questions - which made me feel unique - which was part of being that age back then as we can all relate!

Nowadays I use BD anchors, which allow for the use of these vintage pedals.

Now if you want to talk about the modern Atlas (standard) pedal.....nothing but praise! (Don't waste money on the Pro version) --- a bit of a stretch on topic - the title of this thread made me think of these.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Simply disconnect the metal linkage held by the leather strap from its socket in the axle, re-insert it into the opposite side of the same socket on the axle, and play the bottom of your floor toms! These model bass drum pedals also fold flat as a pancake in one piece by detaching the floorboard from the holding pin on the pedal base casting. Simplicity is Beauty !

I need a new leather strap for a Ludwig Standard pedal.....any ideas what to use or where to buy?

Go to a hobby or crafts store, they carry leather. If you can find one, a 'Tack' store (store for horse / cowboy stuff) will generally have leather strips as well. That's where I get leather when I need it as the folks will cut to size and sew or rivet the loops for me.

I use nylon strapping. You can buy it by the foot at fabric stores. When you cut it you do need to seal the ends with a candle flame. I use a heated nail to poke any necessary holes which both creates the hole and seals it.

Dog leashes and collars are made of the same stuff and I've bought them cheap and cut several straps from a single leash.

Correction:

Just occurred to me that I left out the word "Speedmaster" in my descriptions of the older Ludwig pedals!
