Hello everyone I ran across your fine site while searching for info on a Drum set I acquired. It Looks and sounds like a Ludwig standard. Im enclosing some pics so someone more knowledgeable might tell me what they are. I was at the Landfill and someone was gona throw them away Being a Drummer my whole life I ran right over and grabbed them.

I have a Yamaha Power V set 6 piece. double bass Dual Highhats zildjian Zxts all around. i thought this might be a nice set to play too they sound pretty good after new heads and a little tuning. I want to restore if there the real deal.

Cool Now to Clean them up and a few missing pieces like Bass Drum Legs. i included some more pics I was wondering if it had the original coverings there pretty thick but the seem on the bass isnt on a line with the Lugs I read somewhere thats how they came from the factory. Any idea how old they are?

well done. youve got the real deal there. late 60's/early 70's. same 3 ply shells as the classics. what a great save!

Welcome! A little elbow grease and painting the kick drum rims and you will have the best free kit ever! There is plenty of info on this site about how to do all of that. I am sure someone has some kick drum spurs that you can buy, or trade for here as well. To second what Mike said, the Ludwig Standard line includes the same shells as their top of the line with somewhat cheaper lugs, though the Standard lugs are elegant in their own simplicity in my opinion. Lots of guys have Standards on this forum and they are rightfully proud of them.

Im really happy I said something and got these. what a shame it would have been to see these gone to waste Im gona clean them up ill post pics of the finished product. Thanks for all of your opinions.

Nice find and nice save!! Welcome to VDF. It's a great site. FYI, I purchased my Ludwig Standard 4 pc in Avocado Strata finish a little over a year ago. Only difference is that they have the "classic" lugs, which they did from time to time. I paid $800 for them. I play out with mine and they sound great! People always come and ask me about them.

That's CRAZY that someone was going to throw them away! Yeah, those are stick savers - worth good coin themselves and worth more as a drum to play ;)

Welcome to our forum! You will find a bunch of great big-hearted drummers on this site who are an endless fountain of drum knowledge and also a good source for parts. Get to know your way around the site, the features, set up your signature, etc. You can buy and sell here and we drummers save each other from the 'bay fees. The only fees on here are the Paypal fees if you decided to use that - which is minimal. This forum will quickly educate you on alot of drum gear and this will plant a knowledge in you that will allow you to save alot of money, not to mention an ability to flip for profit.
