Ludwig supraphonic question Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

I just picked up an old dirty Ludwig Supraphonic. It's in pretty good shape. It is date stamped Oct 30 1968. The shell also has a black stamp that says A-G. I assume that means it is a Ludalloy shell. The muffler is a round 1" knob muffler. It looks as old and dirty as the rest of the drum. I'm wondering if it's the correct muffler. I have a 68 Jazz Festival and a 68 acrolite and they both have baseball bat mufflers. Any thoughts from anybody would be appreciated. Thanks, Gerald.

The baseball bat was replaced by the 1" knob c.1968, so your knob is correct. A G = Anti Galvanic, like on the round stickers of the Ludalloy drums.

http://slinkzdrums.awardspace.co.uk/galvanic.html check out this website for an explanation of what this really means.

Thanks for the info!. I'm convinced the drum is all original except the snare wires and heads. Any idea what the correct snare wires would be? Thanks again.

Hey Jerry!

I might have a set of those wires hanging around here. If I do, they are yours. Let me check it out. Might be missing a strand...but they would be the correct wires.

Thanks for all the good info guys! Adam, if you do run across a set of snare wires I could use them. Let me know and I can run over and pick them up. Thanks.
