Ludwig tom muffle placement Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi,

Does anyone know why some of the 70s Ludwig's toms have the muffle right above the badge and others they are like 2 "panels" away?

Different series?

Thanks,

Jeff

pretty sure the muffler above the badge was used so that the drum can be placed either on the left or right side of the bass drum and it wouldn't "matter" as the badge would face the side either way. The badge and muffler are straight across from the mount.

When the badge was 2 panels over it had a definite side to be placed and look correct, as in the badge facing the front. The only issue would still be where the seam sits (facing the drummer or the audience).
