Ludwig trade Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Hi,

I have a neat ludwig club date kit from 68'. 4 pieces, matching and complete!

I might trade it for a ludwig kit 3 pieces, from 69? Serial number on the kick drums begins with 828.

It's supposed to be matching but the beginning numbers on the kick are different from the toms. Is it normal?

Sizes are 13; 16; 24.

Is it worth the neat club date kit that i have knowing that it has scratches and extra holes?

Best

Extra holes are never worth an un-alterd kit !!

If you don't post a few photos, we have no way to know what we're talking about in terms of value. What finish is it? What's the condition of the individual drums? Any rust or pitting anywhere? Any parts missing or need replacing?

Details, details... the Devil is in the details.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Thanks gentlemen!

I don't have pictures of the kit i saw. It's a silver sparkle kit. It has extra holes on the bass drum because someone put a modern japanese tom mount on it :(

The bass drum brackets were different too. Now it has the original ones but still, there are extra holes.

Then the bass drum hoops wear scratches.

I would say that the kit is in a good condition considering its age but if i think of my kit from 68' which is older, mine is like new. Then it's a club date and maybe it was not as prestigious as this silver sparkle kit.

The serial numbers on the kick start with 828, blue and olive badge and it's a 24".

Thanks a lot!!

May I assume you are from England as you call lugs, as they are known in the US, as brackets, which is what we call them in the UK?

Cheers,

Mr. Kaywood, what we in the Colonies call "lugs" are generally referred to in your neckathewoods as "nut boxes" (or so they were in Birmingham in the circle with which I was involved). We refer to brackets as being the piece which suspends a rack tom to its holder or a floor tom leg to its charge.

BTW I've played exactly 1 Beverly kit. It was in April, 2005 in Horb, Germany @ The Rainbow (a GREAT place!). Red sparkle 20, 13, 16, 5 & 1/2. Great sounding kit!

+1.In the current market,Club Dates and Standards have come up in value a bit over the last couple of years.Buyers seem to have found out via drum forums ,that Ludwig classics, club dates and standards for a time, shared the same 3 ply shell, with the only differences being in the hardware of each line and different finishes for the standards..

Your clubbies, being in excellent and all original condition, are worth more than an altered 3 piece classic kit in silver sparkle.
