Ludwig vistalite drums Last viewed: 3 hours ago

I'm over 60 years old and I want to "downsize" a few things including my drum set. I purchased a 12 pc. Ludwig Vistalite- Jelly Bean drum set over 30 years ago. There are in very good condition except one red tom fell and cracked. I glued back to together and have not encountered any issue for over 25 years with the drum. The set includes the following

1- 22x17 bass- Yellow

1- 22X17 bass- Blue

1- 18x16 floor tom- Green

1- 7x6 tom- orange

1- 8x6 tom - red

1- 10x7 tom-blue

1- 12x8 tom-green

1- 13x9 tom- red

1- 14x10 tom- orange

1- 15x 12 tom- blue

1- 16x14 tom-yellow

1-14x5.5 snare-chrome

plus all stands- pedals from Ludwig

I am considering selling the set and purchasing a smaller- 4-5 pc. set. My concern is pricing/value for this set. I have been checking various drum web sites- and of course amazon, ebay, craiglist. and the values are all over the place. I believe the set is unique and perhaps have some value. I realize one tom is cracked and this will likely reduce the overall value. Does anyone have opinions on this topic? any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg

As much as I hate to say it, you'll get more money by selling the parts separately. I hate parting out kits, but it has become a fact of life.

I had a nice kit for sale for a long time with no takers. I sold it in two parts and got more than the asking price for the whole kit. Go figure.

My kit:
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler
Gibraltar motorcycle seat-style drum throne with backrest

I agree.....especially on a kit of that size. I'm selling this kit now and I have a guy wanting the 16FT. May part my kit out also...

No such thing as a 22x17 Ludwig bass drum.

Thanks for the responses. I do see the logic of selling parts separately. Maybe that is way to go. I'm reaching out to some local drummers I know and a local music store and letting them know I have the set for sale, maybe I'll get lucky.

I see nothing wrong with selling the drums separately in a jellybean set...You will probably make more that way...

Parting a Jelly bean kit will likely bring you more of an investment return than the whole kit, unless you get some vistalite fanatic collector who"has to have" your kit. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. ;)
