This is not my favorite finish either, but it's starting to grow on me. I really bought them because they are clean and original, plus the price was right and leaves me some room to make a profit if I decide to sell them.

As others have also said, this is not my favorite finish. But like you just mentioned, they are clean and original and you might make some $$$ if/when you sell them. Good luck!

They have a good vibe and you got a good deal. 6-ply Ludwigs sound great to me because they have a warm tone as well as punch.

As a child of the '70's, those mother-of-countertop Cortex wraps give me warm fuzzies.

Simulated woodgrain!

I painted the hoops and put a Ludwig logo head I had sitting around on the front. New heads on the toms and I'm ready to rock.

I should say so!

Love the snare, especially.

How is their sound different from the Rogers kit you have?

I really don't hear a big difference, except that the Ludwigs are louder, especially the kick. I use coated ambassadors on all the kits I've owned and tune them the same.

I finally broke down and rented a storage room to practice and I played the Ludwigs for the first time today, I'll upload a video soon. In the mean time, here's a few pictures in my new rehearsal space.

Those turned out nice. I really like the finish. The snare blends in well too. Nice touch with the Ludwig throne!
