Ludwig WFL 1957 green sparkle Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Hey guys,

I Am Pasq from italy and i'm looking at purchasing a vintage ludwig and found this one for sale.

It is a 3-piece WFL Ludwig of 1957. 1600 euro, that's about 2000 $.

It says, completely original, only missing cymbal holders.

Now, i don't know anything about vintage drums, so i can only trust in the seller (he seems a correct person), and i'd like to know what to check about this ludwig..

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers,

Pasq

from what i am seeing this is a really nice kit, and as mentioned the only thing missing is the bass drum tom mount. Look at the shells with the heads removed for any repairs etc bearing edges,

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Agreed. There is some fade on them. But original green sparkle drums are real hard to come by. Just make sure there are no extra holes or damage. From what I am seeing on the pics, they look like nice drums.

Yes, do pay some attention to the bearing edges.. may be just the image but it appears to be uneven tension on the FT batter head...

Looks like a nice set..

Cheers

Fantastic kit! I have a snare (1960) with a similar fade. I like it!

Are those original bass drum spurs? The bracket looks right, but don't think I've ever seen straight spurs like these. Great-looking set.......marko

I second both comments. May not be original spurs, but brackets look correct. Nice looking drums that do appear to be in good shape!

1957 wfl green sparkle

I have been trying to reach this person. Looks like a fun project, but that is sight unseen. I wonder how difficult getting that paint off would be.
