Matching Snare vs Non-Matching Snare? Last viewed: 59 seconds ago

I have a number of sets and some snares too. And while I rotate snares for practice, I tend to play one of two snares that I can't seem to leave alone when i play live. Either my 64 6 1/2 Super sensitive or my wfl marcher that I cut down to a 6inch depth. Both those snares are my go to because they never fail me in any venue. No matter what kit i'm using....

Thanks Jerry, Glenn and Jay

Lets see some more kits with non matching snares! Or ones with matching snares, just for fun. Were still on the topic right?

Thank you!

I think we are Jeff,lol

Excuse my 16 / 17 year old self in this photo. My U.S.Mercury kit, the snare is blocked but It's the 8 lug steel snare that came with the kit. Still have that kit, my first drum set ever actually.

My Gretsch, Sonor's, and Champagne Ludwig's have matching snares.

I also have a Ebony wrapped 6 1/2"x14" Cannon snare I use with my Ebony Rogers. I sometimes use a metal snare with the Gretsch, and Sonor set as their matching snares are not as good, or I have yet to make them sound as good. I keep working on the Gretsch and Sonor snare's sound, and still use them with those sets if I am playing jazz, or in a quiet venue, but I do like matching snares with sets.

That's one kit I'll never part with. I'll have that until my final days. I must confess though, while it may look good with a matching red snare, a nice clean chrome snare just makes it pop ( to me ).
