Mercury Drums! Last viewed: 11 hours ago

I'm just looking to get some wisdom about mercury drums. I am buying a 1970s mercury kit and just want to know a little more about them.

-is it an actual drum co. or was it the name of a line of drums

-are they worth anything? (I'm picking mine up for $100)

And if anyone has any more info I'd love to talk shop with them.

Welcome...To this great vintage drum forum!!..Mercury drums were made by Pearl from the mid 60's to late 1970's.Mercury drums was one of about 50 names Pearl used on their inported drums in the U.S...Shells could be from 3 ply with rings to 7 to 9 ply with out rings.Photos would help to give you price that they would be worth. Some questions are color? are the drum complete? condition? Hardware with set, cymbals ete,ete....Mikey

Search the Vintage Non-USA Drums forum for Mercury. There are numerous threads with information that should help.

Thanks for the info guys.

And the kit has a swirl blue finish (reminds me of slingerland/Ludwig), chrome hardware, but does not come with any stands or cymbals, this is just a shell pack, I believe they are the original heads but have gone through some use. I am planning on restoring it.

This is the kit:

At 100.00 for the set that was a very good deal. Its looks to be in very good condition.I can't tell but is the snare drum a 8 or 10 lug drum.It looks 10 to me in the photo thats a big + if it is a 10 lug snare not many of them around. If you need any parts for the set i will have them likey i see that the bass drum is missing the claws and T-rods...Mikey

Yes the snare is a 10 lug. And yes I'm missing two bass drum tension rods and claws. And I am missing the bass drum spurs. On the shell it has the mounts just not the actual rod. And that's all I'm missing! It came with the original tom arm, and mounting hardware on the bass drum.
