Anyone gotten this message from DrumMaker.com lately?

"DUE TO INDUSTRY CONDITIONS SHIPPING MAY NOT BE IMMEDIATE.

If you have a rush, PLEASE LET US KNOW."

Just wondering how long it took to get your items if you received this message too?

I've always been very pleased with their service and products, and it has not been long at all since I placed my order, so I'm not in a panic about it yet....

Thanks all!

Kev

Maybe the demand for some wrap colors has slowed to the point Delmar is doing smaller run batches? I need to order a sheet soon so thanks for the heads up!

I know that business has been a little slow and that may be a sign that Andy has had to let someone go. I hope not, but that would be one explanation of slower shipping service. Regardless of what our elected officials say, the economy is tough right now.

Interesting this came now, (I guess he wanted to head me off before I started my rant)

I ordered a custom pearl wrap in April, (yes I said April) still have not received it yet. LIttle communication as to why or what is going on. I'm suppose to get it this month. I'll hold back any further comments till I get the wrap and see how it looks.

thats all I can say

Hi Guys,

Andy from Drum Supply House / Drummaker.com here.

Yes, very challenging times in our industry these days.

I am currently doing work previously done by three employees.

So when it comes to the speed of things, that surely slows everything a bit...working my tail off!

Kev - the note you mention is a blanket notice that show on all online order confirmations. Just a heads up that things simply are not as fast as in better times past. Stock levels are lower across the board, all the way back to factories overseas. However, we certainly still keep a lot of inventory and have systems in place to restock most items from zero to nearly any quantity needed within a week or less.

Also shown in our email confirmations "If you have a rush, PLEASE LET US KNOW.", " - WE PRESENTLY DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO CONTACT YOU REGARDING EVERY BACKORDER. -" Let us know of any rush or deadline, and we will jump to make it happen or let you know quickly if it can not.

Every order is unique. Many orders ship the same day, most ship in 7-10 days, some can take longer to awaiting restock of certain slower parts.

If my detective work is correct...

KEVINS in NC, your floor tom legs are shipping any day, tracking will be emailed as they leave.

SLINGERLAND in IL, your custom wrap shipped last week. I called you personally to keep you in the loop on the 7th - two days before your posting here on the 9th. Your recently emails were answered in detail within hours. I explained that wrap production minimums had prevented your single sheet from being made as quickly as we hoped. We also mentioned that we posted a courtesy $25 credit on your file for the wait. The wrap turned out great, matched nicely to the color sample code that was chosen by your builder (who actually ordered the wrap from us).

Thanks for the heads up and chance to reply. Truly doing our best in these tough times.

Thanks

Very cool to have Andy jump in a remove any doubts or concerns that may have been forming. Great stuff, Kev. This is how it's supposed to work. Man, I love this forum.

Andy,

I was afraid that was the case and I feel your pain. I am a big fan of what you do and wish only the best for you. I think many of us forget just how small this market is and don't realize that it may not be possible to offer the same level of service in a niche industry that a company like Amazon, Musician's Friend or Wal-Mart can provide.

One unfortunate side effects of the information age is we now have a consumer base that is aware of the cost of everything but the value of nothing. To that end, there are plenty of negative comments on this forum about the "big box stores", however, if you are not willing to support the smaller suppliers, especially in difficult economic times, then that is all that you will have left.

Andy, you certainly provide value in what you do through your expertise and attention to detail. Stay strong my friend.
