Also has played for George Harrison,Joan Armatrading (sp?),Richard Thompson,Rosanne Cash,Sir Elton on and on...

Add Sir Paul McCartney to the list too. On his "Tug of War" 1982 lp I believe.

I read he was with Harrison when he heard Lennon had been murdered.

Wow, Dave Mattacks! That guy's a bit of an unsung hero.Along with so much else he's done, he's on Chris Rea's stuff and also "Nonesuch" by XTC, one of my favorite XTC albums. Good on ya, bud. I'd've loved to have seen that. He's pretty much a jazz guy these days, I believe. I remember hearing about how he used to get crap from guys sometimes because he'd put pressed hoops on his Gretsch drums back in the day. How'd his kit sound? Yamahas?

I hadn't heard XTC, so I checked them out on Spotify and love it. The Nonsuch album is fantastic and the drumming is really clever! Thanks!

I envy you to just be discovering XTC. Your world will never be the same. Sophisticated melodic power-pop at its greatest. Masters of their art - DM included.

Be sure to include checking out the Dukes of Stratosphear.

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

For those that don't know, Dukes of Stratosphear is XTC's psychedelic alter ego. Two must-have records.
