MIJ Swing Star 60's Kit Last viewed: 43 minutes ago

Loading...

I think this is a 60's stencil kit by the Swing Star co. which later became Tama. Is that right?

What would you call this wrap? Blue Swirl? The flash makes it look more purple than it is.

Sizes are: 20x14 14x14 12x8

No markings inside the drums.

Condition is a 9 out of 10.

Is it possible to know the exact year?

I know some people are starting to collect these vintage MIJ's.

Any opinions as to what the value might be?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Rob, it is a Star - Swing Star set, probably from just before the Tama name came along in 1974. Here's a really good website set up by forum member Ralf. http://www.star-drums.de/index.html

BTW, the thing sticking out of the side of the BD is the mount for the cymbal arm. Do you have the arm? Probably worth more than the kit if you do - very rare

That's a beauty! Have you finished the restore yet? We would love to see the restore pics!

Let me know if you need a matching (to the FT) muffler for the tom - I have some of those. I have a potential source for the cymbal arm - working on that.

Yes, indeed one of the rarest (if not THE rarest) MIJ stencil parts of all - very hard to find.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
