Monroe badge (2011 am told) Supra...is is STEEL?! Last viewed: 20 minutes ago

Hi all,

Bought a Supra (am told 2011) on the bay (from the USA, am UK based).....they go for £500 new here or thereabouts!....I paid £190 in total with ALL taxes.

It arrived today and it looks on great condition...the only thing thats bothering me is a small fridge magnet sticks to the shell.

Surely it cant be steel? Would a magnet stick to a newer Supra even though its Ludalloy?

Pic attached its def. NOT been tampered with.

Thanks in advance, Si

looks great! there have been a few in steel to appear from time to time. sometimes a magnet will try to stick to the lugs or hoops though. I have seen some still stick with just the bare shell though.

when did Ludwig start using lug gaskets? I thought they were using them in 2011. maybe someone removed them on yours?

I dont think its been played around with...yes I noticed the lack of gaskets. I still think the magnet sticking (though its doesnt exactly 'jump' but does stay on) is a bit odd. Is there another way of confirming its aluminium?

The weight as it is ..is 7 3/4 lbs

Can anyone else confirm whether a small fridge magnet does or doesnt stick to their Surpas!....its the shell it sticks to not the lugs or anything else.

Would like to know whether its steel or Ludalloy...

I highly doubt it is steel. the magnet is probably only sticking to the chrome plating. Ludwig orders their shells in lots so I would very much doubt they would have a steel shell in their normal ludalloy batch, the ludwig planet is near my house been there a bunch of times.

I have 2 supra's. 1965 and 1970. The only thing a magnet sticks to on both are the rims. Hope this helps.

Have you tried to take off the top head and see if the magnet sticks to the inside of the shell?
