Hey fellow drummers. I recently bought a 11 piece kit that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. From what I can tell their rocker's, gray inner shell, black/white badges (1980/1981), 6 "power toms".
Top toms are: 8",10",12",13",14, 15".....two 22" bass drums and 16" and
18" floor toms. They are black and white stripped like a zebra.
In 1981, Alex Van Halen, in Oakland California played a kit that looks
identical...., he had the ol' black dot heads and typical add-on bells and whistles. The clip
is called "the holy grail...van halen" The good ol' days...Roth doing
his thing....unchained, ain't talkin bout love, etc.
A guy in California told me Ludwig made a limited number of "tribute"
sets to tie in with that tour? I can't get any info out of Ludwig and
the kit seems to be some kind of mystery. I think their 6 ply maple,
they are wrapped, have a very "BIG" sound and are in excellent condition. I'm wondering what their worth, and are they anything more than just a big kit with a cool look. Thanks.....and I'll post some pictures soon.
